VNV Nation

I have a thought about a situation and without thinking put on a track that describes how I fee and what I need to do. Thus last night I put on 'Entropy' by VNV Nation.

Also, I feel energy and power when my mind resonates with a certain piece of music. This is beyond the physical process of acoustics and leads to the generation of thoughts and chemicals in the brain. Yet the conscious feeling is greater then the some of parts.

Relief To Be In Work Again...

After almost a year of going through the ringer and spin cycle of applications, rejections and the odd interview I had got a good job offer. It feels like a burden has been lifted and now I feel magnificent again. Things are moving faster and I am getting used to having no TV. Now for the sleep pattern and getting rid of the fags.

Also, I could do with brushing up my skills and getting fit. I am finding it hard to go to sleep because of things rushing in my head. Perhaps some meditation or art practice to relieve the gray matter of thought tension?

Sorting My Life Out

I am managing to live without TV for the last week. It has created a big black hole in the evenings and I am having some trouble staying up (crashing out yet again for 3-4 hours at 8pm). I am watching some stuff on 4OD.

My sleep problem needs to be solved. I just cannot seem to sleep in the normal sleeping hours of 12 midnight to 7am. I can sleep at just about any other time. I think I have been up late too many times and watched too much sci-fi. Strange though as it is not monsters from the dark but anxious thoughts and snoring that are waking me up / keeping me awake at night. I am living a half functional day. This needs solving soon.

On the other hand I have given by jobsearch a boost by doing 10 applications in the last week. Also, I'm contacting agencies by phone and in person and have had an interview last week and probably another next week when I call someone back. Still need to get in town more and get things sold on eBay. Yes that is the ticket to getting rid of some of my clutter and getting some extra money to live on.

In addition I need to get my Website updated, contact the various people about training courses for teaching and the voluntary work that I am doing. Then there is the social networking. Oh well. Tim to go

Call centres and Work Ethic

I think a lot of industries need an evaluation of the skills needed and those employed. At call centres, things that are important include sales targets, customer satisfaction and building rapport. They would benefit from an avoidance of rigid structures such as rushing calls to meet AHT (average call handling time) and time pressure. Having the supervisor monitoring everything does not help either.

As long as the job is done well and it is making money for the company then why pressure employees over speed of calls and punishment for 1 or 2 minutes lateness or idle time? A friend of mine said that call centres are the modern day equivalent of sweat shops. It sure can feel like going through the mill when you have loads of fuming customers in the call queue and computer systems struggling to cope. Enough said and no more for me. Thanks.
